How to measure
Bust/Chest
Measure around fullest part, keeping the tape level under your arms
Waist
Measure around your natural waistline, where you usually wear your trousers
Hip
Stand with feet together and measure around the fullest part of your hips.
The dress your friend just bought. The jeans everyone is wearing this season. You should get to pick from the same styles, in your size, without settling for whatever happens to be available.
Style Union’s plus size collection for women is available in different plus sizes. Below is how to find your fit, what to check before you order, and how to put outfits together for college, work and weekends.
Start with three measurements: bust, waist and hip. Compare them with the size chart on the product page, not with the size you wear at other brands. Every brand cuts differently, so a label tells you very little.
Check shoulders and hips first, since these are the easiest places to judge and the hardest to change. If they sit right, the rest is easy to adjust. Then look at length. A top that ends at the widest part of the hip can look uneven, so choose lengths that end clearly above or below it.
Use a soft measuring tape and stand straight. Measure the bust at its fullest point, the waist at its narrowest point and the hips at their fullest point. Keep the tape level and snug, not tight.

If the three numbers fall in different sizes, go by the area that matters most for that piece: bust for tops, hips for bottoms.
Take the larger size if the fabric has no stretch, because comfort should come first and you should be able to move, sit and bend easily. A slightly roomy piece can be belted, tucked or layered. If the product page mentions stretch in the fabric, your usual size generally works. When in doubt, trust the chart over the label.
Wear what you like, in the colours you like. Cut and fit do more than any rule about colour or print.
Four checks prevent most returns:
Your size should never limit what you get to wear. Browse all plus size clothing for women at Style Union, from everyday basics to outfits for work and celebrations. Check the size chart on each product page, pick the fit that feels comfortable, and shop the full plus size range for women in one place.
There is no single standard. Brands set their own ranges, and some start plus size at XL while others start at 2XL. Style Union’s plus size range for women runs from [size] to [size]. Check the size chart on the product page against your bust, waist and hip measurements rather than relying on the size you wear elsewhere.
Use a soft tape. Measure the bust at its fullest point, the waist at its narrowest and the hips at their fullest. Keep the tape level and snug but not tight. Compare all three numbers with the chart. If they fall in different sizes, choose the larger one for the area the piece depends on most.
For clothes without stretch, yes. A slightly roomy fit can be belted or layered, and it lets you move comfortably. If the product page mentions stretch in the fabric, your usual size generally fits well. The chart measurements are a better guide than the size label, so check them before you decide.
Compare your hip measurement with the chart, then look at the garment length listed for your size. A top that ends at the widest part of the hip can ride up or pull. Lengths that end clearly above or below the hip line sit more evenly and are easier to wear.
Straight or relaxed trousers, clean necklines and a light layer over a fitted top all work for office days. Show the waist with a half-tuck or a belt. Choose lengths that end clearly above or below the widest part of the hip. Keep a jacket or shirt handy for cold air conditioning.
